BENGKULU — Balapan perdana di Madring, sirkuit baru yang dibangun di kawasan Ifema Exhibition Centre dekat bandara internasional Madrid, meninggalkan catatan ganjil. Pembalap memuji tantangan satu putaran, tetapi mengeluhkan aksi balapan yang nyaris tanpa manuver salip-menyalip.
Albon Sebut Balapan "Pretty Boring", Bortoleto Hampir Tertidur
Kritik datang dari beberapa pembalap sekaligus. Alex Albon dari Williams menyebut balapan berlangsung "pretty boring", sementara Gabriel Bortoleto dari Audi mengaku "almost fell asleep" mengikuti jalannya lomba.
Juara dunia Lando Norris lebih blak-blakan. Pembalap McLaren itu menilai ada sejumlah tikungan yang harus dirombak, terutama sektor 18 dan 19.
"There are some obvious changes they should make. They should get rid of [Turns] 18, 19 - useless. Just have more of a straight into a hairpin," kata Norris.
"I don't know how someone looks at this design and goes, 'mint'. There's a lot of opportunity. They can make it into a track that's good for racing, and I'm excited to come back here next year if they can make these changes because I think it's a track that is good fun to drive and it can be a great racetrack."
Antonelli: 80 Persen Peluang Salip Berujung Kontak
Pemenang balapan Kimi Antonelli menyoroti sisi teknis sirkuit yang membuat pembalap enggan mengambil risiko. Menurutnya, karakter trek saat ini tidak mendorong terciptanya manuver salip.
"It definitely doesn't create overtaking opportunities and it doesn't push you to try and make a move because 80% of the time you might have a contact," ujar Antonelli.
"There are some corners that need to be changed to create more overtaking opportunities because right now, yes, it's nice over one lap, but for sure in the race you're just stuck behind."
Bos Tim Justru Puji Infrastruktur dan Sambutan Kota Madrid
Berbeda dengan pembalap, para principal tim memberi apresiasi tinggi terhadap penyelenggaraan perdana. Frederic Vasseur dari Ferrari menyebut ajang ini berjalan "mega" dari sisi infrastruktur dan sambutan kota.
"First, I have to say that we can discuss about overtaking, but overall, for me, the event was mega," kata Vasseur.
"They are keen to do modifications in the future. They have probably more latitude in Madrid than in Monaco to change something. Let's work together to see if we can do something."
Toto Wolff dari Mercedes bahkan menyebutnya sebagai salah satu penyelenggaraan perdana terbaik yang pernah ia saksikan, menyamakan karakter sirkuit dengan "mini Macau atau mini Monaco".
"I had a discussion yesterday with the CEO of the circuit and they are totally open-minded about next year," ujar Wolff.
Penyelenggara Akui Akan Pasang Ulang Trek untuk 2027
Direktur pelaksana Madring, Luis Garcia Abad, memastikan pihaknya terbuka terhadap perubahan. Ia menyebut FIA telah memberi arahan soal area mana yang perlu diperbaiki.
"The FIA defined clearly which is the way to improve the track layout, and we will be open because we will have to reinstall the track for the next year," kata Garcia Abad kepada Autosport.
"We have the space, we have a venue, we have the facilities, we have the capacity to do it."
Kritik juga muncul di media sosial, mulai dari akses penonton, fasilitas yang rusak, hingga tribun yang masih berupa tanah. Penyelenggara diketahui memang berpacu dengan waktu untuk menyiapkan sirkuit sebelum balapan perdana.
Sirkuit ini menggabungkan jalan yang sudah ada di kawasan Ifema dengan bagian permanen, termasuk tikungan banked ikonik di Turn 12 atau La Monumental. Perubahan tata letak diproyeksikan mulai diterapkan pada gelaran musim depan.
